No. Moissanite is its own gemstone, formed from silicon carbide. It just happens to rival diamond in fire and brilliance, which is exactly why we build our collection around it. Think of it as a gemstone that earns its shine on its own terms, not a stand in for something else.

How does moissanite compare to diamonds in brilliance and durability?

Moissanite actually has more fire (that flash of rainbow color you see when light hits it) than a diamond does. It also ranks 9.25 on the hardness scale, just below diamond's 10, so it holds up beautifully to daily wear. You get the sparkle and the durability without the traditional diamond markup.

Is lab created jewelry considered real jewelry?

Completely. Lab brilliance gemstones share the same optical and chemical makeup as their mined counterparts. The only difference is where they're grown, in a controlled setting rather than underground over millions of years. Every Dunsten Jewelry lab brilliance piece is made with genuine sterling silver and real lab created gemstones.

What metal do you use, and will it tarnish?

Our pieces are crafted in genuine sterling silver, often finished with rhodium plating for extra shine and tarnish resistance. With normal care (keeping it dry, storing it properly, giving it an occasional gentle polish) it's built to stay beautiful for years of everyday wear.

How should I clean and store my jewelry?

A soft polishing cloth after each wear keeps it looking bright. For a deeper clean, warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush works well, just rinse and dry thoroughly afterward. Store pieces separately in a soft pouch or lined box so they don't scratch against each other.

Can I wear it every day, in the shower, or swimming?

Everyday wear is exactly what these pieces are made for. That said, we'd recommend taking jewelry off before showering, swimming, or applying lotion and perfume, since chlorine and harsh chemicals can dull the finish over time. A quick habit of removing it before those moments will keep it looking new far longer.
